How Palettes Are Created
Paletile palettes are created using structured color relationships rather than random color selection. Palette structures may use relationships such as monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, neutral accent, pastel, and dark accent.
Colors are evaluated for visual separation, lightness, chroma, harmony, and overall palette quality before being prepared for publication. Generated palettes are also evaluated for visual structure and similarity. Very similar combinations can be filtered so the collection provides a broader range of useful color inspiration.
Understanding Palette Proportions
Some palettes include suggested proportions for how colors can be used together. These are practical starting points rather than fixed design rules.
- Dominant
- Large backgrounds and primary surfaces
- Supporting
- Secondary surfaces and components
- Accent
- Highlights and visual emphasis
Equal View makes every color the same size for direct comparison. Ratio View displays the suggested proportions so you can see the intended balance at a glance.
Color and Mood Discovery
Palettes can be explored by their dominant color characteristics and visual mood. Color categories—including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, and neutral—help narrow the collection, while the available mood filters help you find combinations that match a visual direction.
Create from Image
Create from Image analyzes a selected image locally in your browser and turns its representative colors into a five-color palette. Create a palette from your image to copy its HEX codes or submit the result for administrator review.
